Recent Things: Artwork, Soggy Sydney and Snuggly Puppies

Recent Things in the Southern In Law World: Artwork, Soggy Sydney and Snuggly Puppies

Well hey, lovely ones! If I had one word to describe this past week it would have to be soggy. We had what I've been calling the Rainpocalypse of 2015 and Sydney is still drying out!

But despite the rain, lots has been happening this week so let me share what we've been up to! >>

Sydney's Rainpocalypse of 2015

Recent Dramas: The rain caused so many dramas across the state this week and ours is totally nothing compared to what others faced. Our poor puppy dogs couldn't use the grass on Tuesday or Wednesday because it became a swimming pool.

Sydney's Rainpocalypse of 2015

But it wasn't just the grass! The swimming pool had to be emptied three times and was a lurrrrrrrrrrveeeeerllyyyy shade of green (and still is!) and our entire backyard was flooded. That would be our pavers sitting with two inches of water on top.

Sydney's Rainpocalypse of 2015

Sydney's Rainpocalypse of 2015At Mainly Music on Wednesday my job of welcoming our lovely families turned into frantically running around looking for buckets/towels as the roof of our church began leaking in not one, not two but three different places.

Luckily I thought to wear my gumboots that morning as I had to dodge puddles going into the church and then spent most of our MM time running around trying to sort out the leaks :P
Custom Art Print - Anniversary Photoshoot by Lucie Zeka Centennial Park Sydney
Photo by the ever incredible Lucie Zeka!

Custom Minted Art PrintsRecent Discovery: Minted! Why hadn't I discovered this website before? I am obsessed and currently trying to decide on the perfect Art Piece to buy.

Above is this Customised Art Print with our favourite Anniversary Shoot picture
but I'm also thinking the Rue Pierre Demours print (on the right) would be perfect for our study.

What do you think of the anniversary picture? I love the brushed effect but I don't know how convinced Jesse will be :P

Trixie snuggling into my feet

Recent Love: Because of the rain and awful weather, our pups have been extra snuggly. Trixie is currently laying underneath my feet with her head resting on one foot whilst I type away to you.

We've also had them sleeping in our bed the last couple of nights as Mum and Katrina are away (usually they sleep in Katrina's room) and on Wednesday morning I was woken up at 4am by a frantic Trixie who had lept from the floor up onto my chest on the bed as she was scared of the storm.

I ended up moving to the couch with my super warm onesie and blankets and the two pups in tow where we snuggled up and waited out the storm together.

Purebred Gluten Free Bagels in Sydney

Recent Find: GLUTEN FREEEEEEEEEEEEE BAGELS! A reader had told me about the new Purebred Gluten Free Bagels so whilst I was in the city yesterday for a meeting I headed to the big Woolworths at Town Hall to hunt out these babies. I haven't had one yet but I'm planning on having one for lunch so here's hoping they're delicious!

Women's Blundstone Boots in the Rain

Recent Footwear of Choice: Gumboots or my Blundstones were the only things I was willing to wear for the first half of the week for fear of getting soaked! My Blundstones are a teeny bit big (seriously comfortable though!) but that just means I can wear thick fuzzy socks underneath ;)

Homemade Creamy Chicken and Rice Soup in a Thermos

Recent Eats: ALLLLLLLLL THE WARM FOODS. Here's what we've been eating this week;

Chicken with Creamy Mushroom Sauce and Roasted Kipfler PotatoesSaturday: Healthy Hamburger Helper Pasta Copycat Recipe with steamed veggies

Sunday:
Grilled Chicken with our Healthy Creamy Mushroom Sauce Recipe, roasted kipfler potatoes and steamed veggies. This meal is a repeat offender as of late but it's so so good!

Monday:
Homemade Pumpkin, Sweet Potato and Carrot Soup with Bread and Salad

Tuesday:
Our Baked Sesame Garlic Chicken Recipe with Rice and Steamed Veggies

Wednesday:
Creamy Chicken and Brown Rice Soup (pictured above which I ate for lunch on Thursday inbetween meetings - can I get a PTL for thermoses? :P)

Thursday:
Last night I wasn't feeling so fabulous so I made Dad and Jesse steaks with homemade sweet potato fries, sauteed green beans and our Healthy Creamy Mushroom Sauce Recipe whilst I just had a chicken, cheese and avocado toasted sandwich #keepingitreal

Tonight:
Probably a super quick Sticky Peanut Stir Fry devoured before we head off to Ignite!

Jesse moving trees from the roadJesse moving trees from the road in the storm

Recent Dreams Realised: Jesse was totally in his element on Wednesday when we drove around the park and he had to get out and move some fallen trees/branches off the road so we could pass through. He literally lept out of the truck to move them and I knew he was loving every second of it.

Next he'll be looking for a job as a park ranger - just wait for it ;)

But tell me, how has your week been?
What's the best thing you've eaten/done this week?
What's one clothing/footwear item you just can't stop wearing at the moment?
For me it's boots (either gumboots/blundstones/my DUO boots/cropped boots etc) and thermal leggings because I am in serious need of warmth, ha!
Have you ever shopped at Minted?
If you've got a favourite piece, share it with me - I'm always happy to have extra inspiration ;)

  1. Oh my goodness, gluten free bagels!?! At wollys? I need to try these asap!!
I have always used Tiny Prints for cards (the competition) but I know that Minted has better international shipping rates. I am thinking about getting some "hey we moved" cards made up with our new address on it and probably going to use Minted for those. I had no idea they sold artwork as well! I think the brushed effect of the photo looks great, but I would love to see what they look like side by side to compare.

  2. Rain...so horrible :( It does look like a swimming pool! They are saying rain all weekend here...not fun.
OOOO I want to hear how those bagels are!

  3. Just wanted to say that I made these brownies last night and they're already half gone because they're AMAZING! My new favorite brownie recipe and they're healthy, too... I don't think I'll have any more problems getting enough protein in my diet with these around! :P

  4. Unfortunately the bagels weren't as good as I hoped - and I had a major allergic reaction (seemingly!) to the poppy seeds. Haha.. major bummer but luckily they didn't taste so incredibly awesome that I feel like I'm missing out :P They kind of tasted just like a purebred bread roll only with a hole in the middle and poppyseeds on the outside - none of the chewy bagel-y-ness I was hoping for!

Definitely check out the art prints on minted - there's so many awesome options!

  5. Haha it was awful! I kept saying to my Dad that he never needed to put a swimming pool in because we had two extra ones ;) Luckily the rain has now stopped and we're back to normal!

The bagels were a major FAIL! I seemingly had an allergic reaction to the poppyseeds but they were kind of just like bread rolls with a hole in the middle - none of the chewy bagel-y-ness I was hoping for!
