Recent Things: Workouts, Treats and Australian Eats

Hey lovely ones! It's Friday again! I don't know where this week went - at some points it felt like it was dragging on forever but now all of a sudden it's Friday! We started back at work this week so we've been busy busy busy but I've got lots to share with you! >>

Recent Happiness; Whilst my veggie patch has seen better days (a little mouse has decided to eat ALL THE THINGS and the plants aren't happy so it's time to start over), my frangipanis are blooming and I am one happy girl. I loveeeeeee frangipanis - the smell, their colour, their resilience (because you can literally just chop off a branch, stick it in the ground and it will grow!) - everything!

and I'm anxiously awaiting this design to be added to our cafepress store so I can order my workout tee!

Recent Workouts; I got an email from Emily last week who asked me if I could share my workouts with her (as she was just really interested to know what I do) so I thought I'd start sharing them in these posts! Keep in mind, I'm not working out to lose weight whatsoever so I eat a lot to fuel my workouts (like really, a lot)

Saturday: Morning walk around the park and then an afternoon walk with my hubby
Sunday: Nothing in the morning or during the day but a quick little evening walk with Jesse that night. I was feeling really sick on Sunday (with low blood pressure/dizziness and an odd buzzing sensation which I think is due to my dropping iron levels) so we didn't go to church in the morning and I went back to bed until lunchtime when we headed over to a friends house for lunch. It was very much a take it easy kinda day. Monday: Morning walk + upper abs + lower abs + obliques + evening walk with ChanelTuesday: Morning walk + cardio + abs + evening walk with Katrina and both pups (as Trixie is now big enough  to walk!) Wednesday: Morning walk + cardio + abs + obliques + evening walk Thursday: Morning walk + strength training + obliques/standing abs + evening walkToday: Today I've gone for my morning walk and then this afternoon I'm planning on fitting in a mixed martial arts workout (which I love to hate because Coach Kozak confuses me every time with his 1, 2, 3, 4's) plus an eight minute blitzkrieg ab workout

Some of you might remember that I used to just walk in the mornings - but now I'm walking at night. That would be because my circulation is playing up again now that my iron levels are lower.

I was finding that my legs and feet were swollen and red and sore at night and kept me awake (as they were prior to my iron infusion) and one night Jesse and I went for a walk around the neighbourhood after dinner and I didn't have an issue that night. I tested my theory and have found a quick walk in the evening means my legs don't bother me at night so I'm much happier and sleep way better. I take the pups with me when its not too hot and Katrina and Jesse come along whenever they feel like it

Recent Love: Strawberries! I cannot get enough strawberries at the moment. They're so sweet and juicy and deeeeeeeeeeeelicious!

Recent Breakfasts of Choice: Cereal Messes for me (after I devoured my stash of breakfast bakes in the freezer) and Homemade Honey Vanilla Granola for Jesse.

I'm making the most of cold breakfasts because, before I know it, I'll be snuggling bowls of hot oats once again :P

Recent Cuteness: Trixie Belle is becoming more trustworthy by the minute so she's been allowed to come into the front of the house when we're in there. This week she discovered that our window is the perfect place to sit so that she can watch and bark at the world go by.

Recent Treats: Proscuitto di Parma and Parmigiano Reggiano - get. in. my. belly. We were lucky enough to have real Parmigiano Reggiano (as certified by the Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Consortium) and Proscuitto di Parma sent to try and ohhhhh my word was it good. There really is such a huge difference from commercially produced versions and traditionally produced versions.

When buying Parmigiano Reggiano look for the fire-branded oval Parmigiano Reggiano certification mark and when buying proscuitto, look for the fire-branded five point ducal crown - that's when you know you're buying the good stuff!

I'd love to say that we did something fancy with both - but the truth is, they were so good on their own we didn't want to mess with perfection!

Recent Snack of Choice: My raw bite obsession has returned. I've created quite a few new flavours in the last couple of weeks which I'll share with you soon - but I'm also loving classics like our Healthy Nutella Raw Bites and Healthy Chocolate Mint Raw Bites.

Recent Recipe Development: I've been working on some delicious Australian Treats for Australia Day and I am SO excited to share the recipes with you. Here's just two of the recipes you'll be seeing soon; A Gluten Free version of the Aussie classic, Damper and Homemade Honey Tiny Teddies which are seriously, ridiculous good

But tell me, how has your week been?
What's your breakfast of choice this week?
And, are you a proscuitto or parmigiano fan? How do you like to enjoy it?
I'm a cheese loving girl in general but I loveeeeeeeeee good quality parmigiano - whether it's grated or shaved over pasta or, to be honest, eaten on its own ;P
And what's your favourite "Aussie" food?

  1. My breakfast of choice this week has to be a new chocolate oatmeal recipe I found on foodgawker--I think I'd eat it for every meal if I could! I really wasn't an oatmeal fan until I tried this recipe, but I think I've fallen in love... I'm excited to try a few of your baked oatmeal recipes now as well! :)
