The Fabulous Fitness Survey!

The Fabulous Fitness Survey

Well, I don't know about you - but I can't pass up a good survey! So when the lovely Lisa sent me an email with a link to Julie's Blog post with this "Fabulous Fitness Survey" I couldn't help but jump aboard!

So let's do this thing!

My favourite breakfast - Breakfast Bakes!
1. What did you eat for breakfast?
I actually just finished my breakfast, which was a Chocolate Protein Breakfast Bake, topped with peanut butter which I melted to make it spread even easier! Yum!

The Chocolate Protein Bakes probably tie for first place with the Banana Souffle Bakes - deeeeelicious. Heck, I love all of my breakfast bakes - best. breakfast. EVER.

2. How much water do you drink a day?
A lot. Since I can't drink anything other than water, coconut water and some teas - I drink a heckofalot of water. The doctor once asked me how much water I drank and wouldn't believe me when I told her I probably drink about 3 litres minimum a day.

With a view like this, why wouldn't you want to walk?!

3. What is your favourite workout?
Some people will probably shun my "workout" because it's not workout-y enough, but it works for me and I'm outside so sh.

I can't run and there are no gyms near my house - so I walk - but I walk like a speed demon thanks to my super long legs and naturally long stride. I've even had Grandma's in the park tell me "sheeeeeeeeeeeesh honey, if you're going to walk that fast - you need to turn your blinker off when you over take us!"

And don't ever ask me to lift weights... unless it's one handed. I have an arm disability (erbs palsy - read my story here) which stops me from lifting certain ways and/or rotating my right arm/wrist/forearm - so whilst I can try all I like... I can't lift a thing.

I also love yoga (but don't go to any classes anymore) and I really want to try Barre and Pilates.

4. How many calories do you eat a day?
Quite possibly a lot - but I wouldn't have a clue. I need to make sure I'm eating enough that I don't lose any weight as I'm quite thin. Weight gain is a good thing for me - so I don't count calories or anything like that.

If you asked me how many meals a day I eat - that answer is six and you'll often find me grazing if I don't feel like eating big snacks/meals. A bit of chocolate here, a banana there, a handful of dates, a carrot.. you know.. snackity snack.

5. What are your favourite healthy snacks?
Quite a good question after my last answer! Jesse thinks this is ridiculously, but I'm not a meal person - I'd much rather graze. I've always been that way. To the point where Jesse has gotten so tired of me asking him what I should have for dinner that I now have an iphone app which decides what I want for lunch/dinner for me with the spin of the wheel - genius, I tell you (yes, I am that lame - and no, I don't always agree with the app and sometimes spin it hundreds of times haha)

My absolute favourite snack right now? Either crackers with laughing cow cheese and dates or cottage cheese, cereal and a dollop of peanut butter - or if I'm out and about, I usually keep fruit and nut bars in my purse like Woolworth's Macro Chocolate or Chocolate Mint Raw Fruit and Nut Bars (the mint is my favourite!), Emma and Tom's Banana Bar or Coles' Simply Date, Sesame and Chia Bar.

Gluten Free Snack Plate for Lunch

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?
It depends on whether I'm home or out and about - but usually it's some type of sandwich with a side of fruit. At the moment I'm loving Peanut Butter and homemade Blueberry Chia Jam or Mighty Mite and Cheese.

I'm also a big fan of "snack plates"  - also known as, throw a bunch of different things onto a plate and call it lunch.

7. What is your favourite body part to strength train?
I don't really do any strength training, but for me it's incredibly important that my legs, core and left arm are strong. As I said above - my right arm is a no hope when it comes to strength - so as long as the rest of my body can pick up the slack, I'm all good!

I am often around kids - whether I'm babysitting or spending time with family/friends - and I love knowing that I can pick them up and play with them and have fun.

8. What is your least favourite body part to strength train?
My right arm - what we call the "gammy" arm. I know I can't do it, but that doesn't mean I won't try. It's something I've always done - but it has paid off as little by little my movement  and ability increased. It will never be like the average persons - but that's just a little something different about me!

It's all about Balance!

9. What are your bad food cravings?
I don't label any food as "bad" or "good" - I think it's important to eat a balanced diet and enjoy treats as exactly that - treats. I eat a piece of chocolate every day and I love a good gelato. Don't even get me started on my delicious healthy chocolate cake - but you definitely couldn't call that a "bad" food by any means!

The only bad foods for me are the ones that I'm allergic and/or intolerant to - and that's because they make me physically ill! Some of those foods include "healthy" foods such as cauliflower and tomatoes. It's all about finding what works for you!

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?
Yes - but it's important that you also know something..

I was recently diagnosed with a Vitamin B6 toxicity. This toxicity caused my fingers/arms/legs to go numb and for me to be incredibly tired, nauseous and confused. Why did I have a toxicity? Because a doctor had put me on Mega B Vitamins without ever testing my vitamin levels - and my body could not process the extremely high doses of Vitamin B6 (which should be water soluble). That just goes to show that before starting any vitamin you should have your levels checked and speak with a wise, informed doctor (don't worry, I had changed doctors long before I found out that happened - and won't be seeing her again).

I currently take a fish oil supplement, slippery elm tablets (prescribed for my IBS), magnesium malate (again IBS) and also a digestive enzymes (for IBS and my digestion problems from undiagnosed coeliac disease).

11. How often do you eat out?
I eat outside of the house often - but as for eating in a restaurant/cafe, very rarely. Usually it's just tea or a drink as I can never find places that provide both gluten free food and food that I'm not intolerant to. The exception to that is DARE in The Rocks - and the spinach and feta frittata is my go to choice. We visit maybe once a month when we're in the city.

12. Do you eat fast food?
No because there aren't any fast food options I can eat - unless the apple bags from McDonalds don't contain anything added I can't have? haha.

Kristy, Jesse and Chanel

13. Who is your biggest supporter?
I have four - Jesse and my Mama, Dad and Sister. They're the ones who tell me to go after my dreams and support me every step of the way - even if they sound crazy. Sure, they're wary of me wearing one too many "hats" but they never doubt my ideas or my will to do something -they know that if Kristy wants something, she'll work her butt off until she gets it.

14. Do you have a gym membership?
Negatory.

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
It really depends on what time Jesse needs to be awake, but I'd say 7 or 8 on a week day.

16. Do you have a "cheat" day?
No - cheat days are a "diet" thing - and I'm not on a diet. I enjoy a healthy lifestyle which includes muffins and chocolate cake - just healthier versions or enjoyed in moderation.

17. Do you drink alcohol?
No I don't - and I have no desire to. Alcohol has never interested me and considering I can't eat grapes, gluten or other fruits/vegetables/additives in alcohol - I'd probably only be able to drink vodka - and then I'm quite tiny so I'd probably be dead in 2 seconds. Considering I can't drink coffee as it makes me jittery, dizzy and sick - I don't know what I'd be like with alcohol :P

Puppy Walking
Truth be known, Nelly-bean keeps up with me better than Jesse.

18. Do you have a workout buddy?
God. That's about it - I pray whilst I walk as I find it calming and it centres me. I'd love to have someone to walk with - but I also value my alone time to think and focus on my day ahead! Jesse sometimes walks with me on a weekend and that's lovely - and occaisonally I will walk with friends who are staying at our house.

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?
I'd say the blog! I've found my passion in life and been able to share it with so many people, whilst also being able to achieve some things I'd never have dreamed of.

I also think that, if I wasn't so aware of food, nutrition and nutritional related health issues, my coeliac disease might have gone unnoticed for a long long time and I would have gotten even more sick than I was. I'm glad that I took an interest in nutrition from quite a young age as I have lived and continue to live the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

20. What was the last healthy thing that you did?
I'm about to head out for a walk - but the last healthy thing? Eat breakfast!

----

Your turn! What did you have for breakfast this morning?
and what 's something most people wouldn't know about you?
