Recent Things: Iron Infusions, Grilling and Chilling

Recent Things in the Southern In Law World

Well hey! We've made it through another week and there's 97 days til Christmas! I had no idea how this week was going to go, as I had my iron infusion on Monday and it's been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I have LOTS to fill you in on!

So let's jump into it! >>

Iron Infusion - Ferinject Iron Infusion Experience
A thumbs up incase you're squeamish ;)

Recent Health: As I said above, and you may already know, I had an iron infusion on Monday! We had no idea what to expect going into this one as I reacted so badly to my last one, however, whilst we thought we were in the clear at first - things went downhill fast yesterday and it looks like the new type of iron isn't my friend either. Kidney infections are no fun, friends!

Dopey spice over here also managed to faint when he put the cannula in and I'm still not quite sure how that happened. I was totally calm and feeling fine and then all of a sudden I couldn't see a thing. FAIL.

Even more of a fail because I was offended that the nurse took one look at me and asked me if I needed to lie down and I was all "HUMPH! I'm not scared of needles.... I'm tough!" #faints.

Nevertheless, it was all over and done with within half an hour (15 minutes infusion time plus a fluid flush either side to stop it staining my veins) and I was ready to go home! That night I felt fine and came home and cooked Jesse and I lasagna for dinner - but when I woke up the next morning, I felt like I'd been hit by a truck.

Wednesday I was feeling pretty blah and thought a day of rest would do me good and I even managed to get out of the house for a while and run some errands. We were in full on celebration mode that this iron infusion was so much easier and I'd be perfectly fine on Thursday - but that didn't quite happen. I spent all of Wednesday night tossing and turning with horrible pain in my back, feeling nauseous and sweating like a marathon runner.

I woke up on Thursday in terrible pain - everything ached and hurt and my back was awfully painful. The pain didn't stop all day long and nothing would relieve it - the only thing that made my back pain feel a tiny bit better was to ice it. I drank 6 litres (I kid you not) of waters and felt awful all day - and it turns out that was because I had a kidney infection!

Today I'm still feeling very blah and taking it easy - hoping by the weekend I'll be feeling at least a little better!

Daniel in his suit onesie

Recent Cuteness: I started with the bad so I could follow with the cute! This little guy is our nephew, Daniel! Jesse and I want shopping for the two newest bebes in the family (Daniel and Raelynn) and sent over a bunch of clothes for them both. This suit onesie was one of the outfits we sent Daniel and he is WAAAAAAAAAAY too cute in it! He's totally going to be a heartbreaker.

Sleeping Beauty Leggings

The world's comfiest shoesRecent Clothing Item of Choice: Leggings. ALL THE LEGGINGS! I have a million and one pairs of leggings and wear them constantly. Under my jeans in the winter, to workout, to sleep in, around the house - you name it!

I even worse leggings to my iron infusion - and my favourite Havaianas Espadrilles because they're super ridiculously comfy and I needed to make the iron infusion as comfortable as possible :P
Bumpy road salve - treating bruises with arnica

iHerb Coupon code - iHerb discount code AustraliaRecent Must Have Products: Bumpy Road Salve and this Arnica Massage Oil. Arnica works wonders for bruising - especially if you're someone who bruises at the slightest bump. I am constantly smothering myself in either product and I always buy at least two of each with every iHerb order.

Don't forget, if you're ordering from iHerb for the first time you can get $10 off with the coupon code OTO868!
Oatley to Como Bridge Walk, Sydney

Recent Weekend Fun: Last weekend we were determined to make the most of my last little bit of energy as we didn't know what this week would bring! As I was sick for two months after my last iron infusion, we were optimisitic that this one would be fine - but realistic in knowing I could potentially be sick again. Luckily it was fine, however, we got a fun filled weekend in anyway!

On Saturday morning we walked from home down to Como and across the bridge in the glorious sunshine and all the way back home again. It ended up being just over 7km and it was so nice to spend the time walking in the fresh air together.

Grilling chicken over the fire pit

On Sunday night, Katrina's boyfriend came over and we fired up Jesse's ridiculously awesome DIY firepit for the night. Jesse really wanted to cook over it so we had prawns, chicken and veggies cooked over the fire.

Playing with fire

But why just have a tame fire when you can have a humongous fire? After we'd finished cooking, Dad and Jesse got a little fire crazy and started playing around with the metho.

I was wondering if I should have had the fire department on standby :P

Pretty spring orchid in our garden

Recent Pretties: Our garden has sprung into Spring and we've got lots of pretty things popping up! We've also just redone our veggie patch so we're all ready to plant our seedlings tomorrow! I cannot wait to have yummy home grown veggies again this summer!

Recent Realisation: I had quite a few readers email me this week not realising we had Facebook/Instagram/Twitter etc. Even though we have the buttons below and on the side bar, you mightn't have realised it either! If you're not already following us, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest. You can easily find us on any social media channel by searching for southerninlaw - it's the same for everything! :)

But tell me, how has your week been?
Anything exciting, interesting or encouraging happen?
And what are your plans for the weekend?
The only thing I have planned for this weekend is to pick up a table tennis table for our youth group kiddos. How random is that?!
