The Future of the Blog

Hello lovely ones! I am sick with the flu at the moment and whilst I had plans to share a project with you, they kind of got thrown out with the sixty five million tissues I've used in the last two days.

But hey, that's life and that's what this blog is!

Speaking of the blog, I thought we'd chat about what's happening with the blog this year. On the weekend I asked you guys on Instagram what you'd like to see more of on Southern In Law this year and I got quite a few interesting suggestions - so I thought I'd tell you what you can expect this year!

Let's talk future plans, shall we?

If you've been reading Southern In Law for a while, you'd realise that recipes go up every week on Monday and Thursday - that's staying the same.

Why? Because two recipes a week seems to work! Sure I could post recipes every day - but that wouldn't give me the time needed to test them. I know a lot of bloggers share a recipe after making it once - but I'm a little crazy.

You see, I want to make sure the recipe is perfect so you can be sure it'll work when you try it. Every recipe on the blog is tested (that is, made) at least three times before it's posted. If it needs tweaking, I make sure I make that "perfect version" three times before it goes up on the blog.

Why? Because baking flukes happen and they kind of drive me nuts so I'd rather save you the stress. I don't want to tell you about how amazing it was only to have it totally fail when you make it - so two recipes a week gives me the time needed to test them.

But what about the rest of the week? Lots of you said you love our Recent Things series - and I do too! That's sticking around on Fridays. A lot of you said you wanted to see more, but let's be real - our lives are pretty boring so we'd probably run out of things to share and that wouldn't be fun for anyone.

..

Instead, Wednesdays posts are going to be our "whatever" posts. They're going to change week to week, month to month, depending on what we're doing. Some weeks it might be a craft or a DIY project we've worked on, other weeks it might be a fashion (read fash-un because I'm no fashion blogger) post with my favourite things, it might be a reader request post, other weeks it might be a home post or a gift idea and some weeks it might just be some random ramblings from our brain.

..

This year should be pretty exciting for us so we're really looking forward to sharing it with you. From a big US trip and Christmas at a top secret location (shh! It's a surprise) to fun life and work changes.

But whatever happens this year, one thing will stay the same. Southern In Law will always be "real". These are the recipes we love and the snapshots of our real life. Sometimes we're off to exciting events and dressed in cute outfits and other times we're sick and snotty and binge watching Netflix shows in our pjs. We're a real couple who don't know it all and will never claim to - in fact, we're just like you.

..

So here's to a year of real-ness and hopefully a whole lot of fun too! I'm so glad to have you along for the ride!

But tell me, if you haven't already told me - is there anything in particular you would like to see here throughout this year?
And do you have anything exciting happening this year?
