Recent Things: Our Un-iversary, Green Smoothies and a Country Pup (RT#8)

Southern In-Law Recent Things

Another week that's flown by! This week has actually been a bit of a short week for us as Jesse had the day off on Monday - and we've been busy, busy, busy ever since!

I'm definitely glad for a weekend though - it's been a productive week of work but I'm ready to relax! Well... somewhat relax ;P Our Saturday is free as can be whilst our Sunday is jam packed once again.

Un-iversary Card - I'll owlways love hoo

Recent Celebrations: Yesterday was Jesse and my sixth un-iversary. Un-iversary not anniversary as it's not really official (I wouldn't call Jesse my "boyfriend" until he was here in person :P), but we've spent the last six years together and I wouldn't change a second of that time!

Green Smoothie Recipe with Mango

Vibrant Life Cleanse - Healthful Pursuit Recent Yums: I made my first green smoothie in forever and it was SO delicious! The lovely Leanne from Healthful Pursuit just launched her latest eBook, The Vibrant Life Cleanse Program & Cookbook, and I made the "Crazy Monkey Green Smoothie" which was amazing. All of the recipes are incredible and the eBook is just $24 and includes meal plans and shopping lists as well as delicious recipes. You can get it here, but check out her other eBooks too!
Sydney Rain

Recent Wish: That the rain would stop! I so don't like this cold and soggy weather :(

GardenKit Progress

Recent Garden Progress: Check it owwwwttt.. This rain has been doing something good - my baby herbs are flourishing! See how they started out.

Chanel in a country outfit

Recent Cuteness: Clearly not Jesse's socks (apparently they're a million times comfier than any other sock - but I think they're hideous, especially when he pairs them with his fluro work shirt :P). Chanel is always a fan of outfits and yesterday I tied a piece of fabric around her neck like a little bandana and she pranced around the house for hours like a pretty little farm dog. That dog totally knows she's cute.

Hot cafe au lait

Recent Cravings: Coffee, tea and any sort of drink that's warm and cozy. This wet weather has me wanting warmth and comfort.

Spotty bananas

Recent Cravings: Recent thoughts - when will I have time to make banana cheesecakes?! I almost have the recipe perfected - just a few more tweaks and it'll be on the blog!

Youth ministry games and activities

Ignite Youth Group at Oatley Anglican ChurchRecent Reads: These youth ministry books. Tonight Jesse and I are in charge of all of the games and cooking for our youth group so I've been brainstorming ideas. We're going to be making DIY Granola Bites with different mix ins, walking eachother through a blindfolded maze and doing some other fun activities. Also, check out our new logo designed by yours truly ;)

Mr Peabody and Sherman

Recent Fun: Last Sunday we had a movie date night and went to see Mr Peabody and Sherman. It was totally cute and definitely a movie to see!

Recent Things in Our Fridge: These Obela Hommus to Go Cups and a double batch of Mint Chocolate Raw Bites. I haven't had hommus in forever as my stomach hasn't been able to handle beans/legumes, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to give it a try and see if my stomach can tolerate legumes again (fingers crossed!). Jesse already tried to claim them all, but he can't say no to his can't-eat-anything wife ;P

Reese's Rice Crispy Treats

Oh and a batch of what we like to call "Reese's Rice Crispy Treats" are in the fridge setting up. It's the simplest recipe but Jesse absolutely loves them so we often make them together. He's told me I need to post it even though it's so simple so keep an eye out for a recipe soon!

But tell me your recents:
- Favourite eats?
- Recent cravings?
- The last movie you saw?
- The best thing that has happened to you recently?

  1. Hi Kristy,
I would love to make these and was wondering if I could substitute the applesauce for something else. I'm intolerant to apples and coconut and I would love any suggestions!

    Hi Nicolette,
Are you able to eat pumpkin? We've made these with pumpkin purée before instead of applesauce and they were perfect! The only thing that changes is the colour and a slight hint of pumpkin flavour.

I wouldn't suggest using yogurt as they won't come out as soft and fluffy - but pumpkin purée or sweet potato purée would work perfectly

  7. Moreover, high set-up fees, high annual fees and interest rates, late fees and
a 59 cent finance charge, on his December statement.

Keep in mind that credit monitoring service has those
alerts too and you can be car insurance for a day hit with extra fees when you fail to submit a password.
Bad credit is a bad case of dishonesty. Charges
of at least some of those folk car insurance for a day can't get a standard credit card,
unless any contrary term or condition is imposed.

  12. Hey Hailey,
This is a vegan recipe so it doesn't contain any eggs! That said, you can replace the ground flax with an egg if you'd like to :)

  13. Food aversions? Broccoli and cheese. When I was in grade school I used to go home for lunch, the school was right across the parking lot from my apartment building. My dad worked shift work so sometimes he and my stepmother had lunch at the same time I did. One day they had broccoli and cheese and it smelled so much it was all I could taste, even though I didn't actually eat any. Went back to school and we were playing soccer baseball when all of I sudden I got violently ill.

I'm 41 now and I STILL can't deal with the smell, let alone eat the cheesy green combo.

Think I'll make the muffins today, I need a good comfort food after a weekend of being sick. I'll let you know how they turn out. hmm... wait, I don't have any applesauce. I'll have to figure out a substitution.

  14. Hi Jenn,
i hope you loved the muffins if you got around to trying them!

As a child I never had broccoli and cheese - but after seeing how Jesse's Mom makes it I can totally understand why you'd hate it! Haha.

  15. My daughter has objected every single time I've wanted to make them. I think I will do it this weekend anyway. She's a cinnamon roll purest - Cinnabon is the only one she truly likes. lol Still can't deal with broccoli and cheese and I'm 41 now. Some things just can't be gotten past eh? (Almost said hurdled but that just seemed wrong. ;) )

  16. Oh no! Perhaps you'll just have to make them and tempt her with the smell ;P

  17. LOL I think you might be right.

  19. I just made them. Added tiny bit of cardamon, too. The texture is to die for! They taste like gingerbread to me. I absolutely love them. My husband says he would add even more spices for more of a kick though. Thanks for an awesome recipe!

  20. Yay! So glad you loved them! We also have a gingerbread muffin recipe that you might like too!

  22. I made these muffins this evening and my very picky 2 year old gobbled one right up! We are transitioning to gluten free to see if it helps with my daughters autism and I was stressing over finding recipies...we'll make these often. I followed

  23. Megan I am SO glad you loved the recipe - and that your daughter did too! If you need help with gluten free cooking and eating, don't hesitate to email me! I know how hard it is initially - it's like learning how to cook and eat all over again! xx
