Recipe: Healthy Baked Pommes Frites

Healthy Baked Pommes Frites Recipe – gluten free, Disneyland copycat recipe, healthy, grain free, low fat, clean eating recipe, sugar free

Quick Note: We're currently in beautiful Hawaii soaking up the sunshine - but luckily I did plenty of cooking and baking before we left to share a few recipes with you! Keep up with our adventures while we're away by following us on Instagram or Facebook!

When you marry a guy who has grown up on fried food and fast food, you've got to get creative.

When Jesse first moved here, I had the toughest challenge to face; trying to convince Jesse that healthy food could actually taste good. Luckily, I succeeded and Jesse happily ate what I cooked and lost a heap of weight.

But does that mean fries were gone forever?

Not in my books!

I'm all about balance and this Pommes Frites Recipe (just a fancypants name for fries, friends) is the perfect healthier option that we absolutely love.

I'm not a fan of plain fries as they're pretty boring - but the addition of herbs and garlic in this recipe makes for a delicious side dish that you'll find yourself making again and again.

This recipe was inspired by trips to Disneyland where you can find pommes frites right by the water at Cafe Orleans. They're a little bit different - but only because I've tweaked them to make them even more delicious.

My favourite thing about this recipe? It's CRAZY simple to make - but your friends and family will think you've gone to a heap of trouble. Why? Because herbs make everything fancier 😂

So let me share the recipe with you! >>

Easy Healthy Baked Pommes Frites Recipe
low fat, gluten free, grain free, sugar free, clean eating friendly

4 large potatoes, cut into "fries"
1-2 tbsp avocado oil/rice bran oil/olive oil (whatever you like best!)
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/4 cup grated parmesan
4 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
4 tbsp chopped fresh oregano
1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves (or fresh)
2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Preheat your oven to 220C/425F.
  • Place your potatoes in a clean plastic bag or medium mixing bowl with your oil and salt and shake or toss until your potatoes are coated.
  • Bake your fries for 20-30 minutes or until lightly golden.
  • Add your garlic, herbs and parmesan and toss to coat before placing your fries back onto your baking trays, baking for a further 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the garlic is cooked.
  • Once golden and crunchy, serve immediately
But tell me, what's your favourite side dish recipe?
And what's one copycat recipe you've made at home?
It might be a recreated version of your favourite restaurant dish, something you've tried on vacation - or even a something a friend has made that you've recreated at home.
