Recent Things: New Jobs and Book Bingeing

Happy Fri-YAY! This week has seriously flown by. We started the week with a job interview for Jesse, by Wednesday he had the job and Thursday was spent running through training materials for Jesse's new job.

In between all that, I've added new clients to my business, started back at work properly and fit in a milestone birthday celebration and a whole lot of reading and baking - so it's been a very productive week!

But we've also fit in plenty of fun..
So let me catch you up on our week! >>

70th Birthday Number Cake

Recently Celebrating: My Aunty Lyn's 70th birthday! I wanted to make her a birthday cake and as someone who is generally a TERRIBLE cake decorator, I managed to create something pretty!

So many people asked me for the recipe so I'm planning on sharing the recipe and my tips soon! This was the easiest birthday cake to make ever - so now everyone will get number/letter cakes like this for their birthdays 😜

Smiths Lamington Chips Review

Recently Regretting: Buying these chips.... but curiosity got the best of me, and they were gluten free.

Australians, do yourself a favour and don't eat these. SOOO gross! I was hoping for salty sweet, but as my Mum said, they taste almost more like a berry flavour than chocolate.

Pink I Will Survive Pot from Kmart Australia

Recently Needing: This pot from Kmart for my plants... so they may actually survive 😛

Best Book Series for Men Who Don't Like to Read - Scythe by Neal Shusterman

Recently Reading: ALLL the books - and Jesse's been reading too!

Jesse started the Scythe series and was immediately hooked. He's not much of a reader, but he finished Scythe in two days and probably would have finished it in one if he didn't need sleep, haha!

The Mothers by Genevieve Cannon Book Review with Teapot and Cup of Tea

So far this month, I have read and LOVED The Mothers (could not put it down!), Ten Feet Tall and Not Quite Bulletproof (amazing almost unbelievable true stories), Thief of All Light (a thriller that's a serious page turner!), Dear Life (a story about life and death that is seriously beautiful, but also hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time) and I read but did not love A Country Nurse

I've just started Bloodtree River which I've had on my bookshelves for a while and it's taking me a little bit to get into it, but it seems like it will be a good read!

Recently Snuggling: My sweet puppers! Poor Chanel got scared the other night because she was in our bedroom when a big thunderstorm hit (right over our house!). The lightning was so bright and I think she was woken up from a deep sleep, but then we were both awake for two hours until it stopped.

It was sheet lightning and impossible to sleep because everytime I almost dozed off, there was a huge flash and I was wide awake again.

At least the storm brought a bit of steady rain though!

Recently Snacking On:
Our Easy Gluten Free Churro Chex Mix Recipe. SOOOOOOOO good. Seriously. Do yourself a favour and make it this weekend!
