Guest Post: Flamingo Pink's Favourite Things

From Kristy: Hi lovelies! Today I have a fabulous guest post from my friends at Flamingo Pink! Flamingo Pink is seriously the perfect website for ladies - whatever you're into. They have all different kinds of posts - from beauty to fashion to health and fitness to love and more - and you'll be seeing quite a bit about them around here as I will be doing some posts for them too!

But enough from me, let's take a look at what the FP team are loving right now!

------

Hi Southerninlaw-ers!

Kristy and Flamingo Pink are partnering up on lots of new and exciting projects (I've been gagged and sworn to secrecy about them, but watch this space - all will be revealed soon!) But let's kick this party off with our first Flamingo Pink for Southern In-Law Favourite Things! (from Kristy: which should have been Friday favourites, had my computer not gone AWOL!)

Favourite moment: Waking up and realising that it’s a Saturday of a LONG WEEKEND (well it is if you live in New South Wales!) Artist’s impression of us today:

Excited Dog in Car
Just a little bit excited
Favourite dating story: You have to read this story about the Chip Man

All the Pringle Ladies

Favourite gift: this mug from Ms Southern In-Law herself, perfect for tea time with the Dalai Lama, served with this healthy-but-you-wouldn't-know-it chocolate cake. Delish! (from Kristy: that chocolate cake recipe is coming soon - and I promise you, it is amazing - and Harriet and Pip from FP will back me up on that!)

Favourite pair: these two! Heart them, heart their song. (Also, heart this pic because IMAGINE IF THEY HAD KIDS TOGETHER!)

Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran with Kids

Favourite breaky: #nomnom this granola - and here's how to make it (from Kristy: I need to make this ASAP - I mean, it has bananas in it - it's calling my name!)

Banana Granola Recipe

Favourite inspirational video: This guy, for proving to us that you CAN fly on a broomstick. Never give up on your dreams, guys!

Anddd some favourites from me!

Kristy's Wedding Dress wrapped in a sheet
Sorry loves, no sneak peeks!
Moment of the week: Yesterday I had my wedding hair and make up trial and it's safe to say I had "the moment" as in, I looked in the mirror, in my wedding dress, with my hair and makeup done, and I cried like a baby ;P

Hair and Makeup genius: The lovely Nieves from Get Threaded. She is just about to open her brand new store at the Met Centre, Sydney and she is amazing. Seriously, Nieves - can you come and live in my house and make me look amazing every single day? I don't know how she does it!

Photobooth Photos Harbourside Darling HarbourKristy and Jesse - Southern In-Law

Fave Bucket List Tick: We have a list of so many things we've never done - and photobooth photos were on that list. So when I spied a photobooth on our way to our car last night, I told Jesse we had to do it. The photos are so silly - but so fun.

Fave Person: Jesse, duh! But I am also so glad to have become friends with the lovely Harriet and Pip from Flamingo Pink - and I can't wait to share what we have in store!! Keep your eyes peeled, lovelies - big news is coming soon!

Fireworks at Vivid Sydney, Darling Harbour

And I leave you with our view from dinner last night - pretty average, I must say....... Not! :P It totally made up for the non-gluten free friendly restaurant who also didn't have peppermint tea, ha.

But tell us! What are you loving this week?!

Friday Favourites: 19 October 2012

Friday Favourites

Hello m'loves, told you I'd be back! Whilst I am having an incredibly busy day today and am off to a meeting very soon, I wanted to take some time to reflect on the things I'm loving this week!

Oatley Park, NSW

Morning Walks
In the past, I have always gone for a walk around 10ish - however, I got tired of my phone ringing and coming home to six thousand and one emails (because well, I should have been working) so lately I have decided to take my walks in the morning!

I am loving it! It gives me time to clear my head and move around so that I can have a clear mind to start the work day.

Chanel Paige - Shitzu x Chihuahua

 My little love
This week miss Chanel has been extra snuggly. She constantly wants loving and goes searching for me if I'm not working at the computer. Chanel is the cutest, most lovable little thing and never hesitates to make us all smile.

The picture above was Chanel snuggling into Katrina last week when she was really sick - Nelle didn't leave her side the whole weekend.

My Website:
This little website had caused me quite a bit of stress, but I am so relieved to have it done. Being someone who is extremely visual, I had a firm idea of what I wanted in my head - but the designer just wasn't getting it. So in the end I did what I probably shouldn't have take it upon myself to edit my own backgrounds etc for the designer to use so that it was exactly how I wanted it

In other words - don't work with Kristy on design things unless she is the designer, because she's a major pain in the butt :P

Lace Wedding Cake
Source
Lace patterned cakes:
You'll notice this week I'm lacking in the links department - that is because I haven't had a chance to even touch my google reader or look around the internet. When I've had time off, it's been at night and I've logged off to try and clear my mind.

This cake, however, I did see - and it's gorgeous!

So tell me, how was your week?!

Friday Favourites: 5th October 2012

Friday Favourites at Southern In Law

Hey lovelies, this week has flown by! Monday was a public holiday so a short week combined with lots of work has me working like a madwoman! Luckily I'm taking the weekend off (as I should do every weekend) and plan on enjoying some me time.

What I'm reading:
This week I'm reading Queen Mum by Kate Long. Thanks to my busy week, I haven't been able to read much (I'm about 3/4 in though) but it's quite a good book. Not the greatest, but definitely an interesting read.

How did I pick this one? I like to do a little thing called the Library Dash. It involves walking into the library, taking a sharp right at the adult fiction (or biographies/non-fiction) and grabbing the first book I see. This means I'm always picking up something different. I quickly get to the counter before I can be tempted by other books - because if I look too much, I come home with 6 or 7.

Before I got so busy with work, I used to read 2-3 novels a week (I'm talking extra large novels too) and spent time compiling a to-read list on Goodreads and then requesting different books off the library's online catalogue when they become available. Now I'm so busy, I forget to request any books and thus the library dash is all the rage.

Tear jerker of the week:
This is an old video that has been making the rounds again and oh boy did it make this little crybaby tear up. I know how bad it is not seeing Jesse for so long, but I can't imagine how hard it would be for a child missing his daddy.

Please Can I Have It? Kitchen:
Warm, cozy, big, open, light, beautiful - I need this kitchen!

Current addiction:
Cocobella! It's so good - and I am so glad they now have it in 1L cartons because I go through at least one small one a day. I've already joked with my mum that Cocobella should sponsor our wedding since I don't drink alcohol. A Coconut Water toast? Why not!

Cute and Cuddly Puppy Litter
Source
Squeal of the week:
SO. MANY. PUPPIES!!!!!!! As if these little ones aren't adorable - and that proud mama at the back!

Food love:
The weather is warming up in Sydney and I am falling in love with ice cream all over again. My current addiction? Either chocolate gelato or vanilla icecream topped with salted natural peanut butter - holy heaven.

Wedding Lust:
All of these ideas for an Intimate Wedding at an Apple Orchard are stunning! I love that one couple also had their wedding reception sitting amongst the trees!

So tell me, what are you loving this week?

Friday Favourites: 28 September 2012

Yay! It's Friday - and this Friday is a real Friday for me. By that, I mean I'm actually planning on taking the entire long weekend off! No working!

I say planning because I have one of those brains that is on the go all the time. I don't know how to relax, but I'm currently reading a brilliant book (which you'll see below!) so hopefully that will give me some me time - and I have a bit of baking planned too!

Pitango Organic Pumpkin with Ginger Soup
Source
Favourite Eats:
This week I've had a terribly sore throat and haven't been feeling very good, so I was so relieved to finally find a soup that I could eat with all of my food intolerances! This Pitango Pumpkin Soup with Ginger was heaven sent this week!

It has no celery or other vegetables that I can't eat or tonnes of funky ingredients like all of the other soups on the market do. It's simple - just pumpkin, potato, carrot, onion, garlic, spices, olive oil and sugar. (I'd probably be happier if it was minus the sugar, but it's not too much - even by my lack of sweet tooth taste buds!)

I'd be happy with a fridge full of soup. (I've already bought two more because I'm kind of sort of in love).

Favourite Read:
I'm currently in the middle of this book and I am loving it. It has me giggling, gasping and wanting more. The book is about three Australian triplets who find themselves in the middle of dramatic moments.

I don't want to say anymore because I don't want to give anything away - but this book has it all! It's a must read for sure.

Golden Retriever - Puppy Nose
Source
Favourite Puppy Love:
As if this cutie doesn't make you want to snuggle her! I loveeee puppy noses!

Baby Bunny Rabbit
Source
Favourite Bunchafluff:
Sweet little baby bunny - if you can look at this photo without saying awwwwwwwwwwwwwh - what's wrong with you?! :P

Fashion Love:
I love this outfit - the colours are lovely! I'm a huge scarf fan so this is perfect!

As always, I'm loving my little miss Chanel. She always manages to make me smile and is the most lovable little thing you'll ever meet. She's currently on the floor fast asleep after our walk (previously she was panting as above).

So tell me, what are you loving this week?
and are you able to switch off easily - or are you always on the go like me?

....and Hello to you too! It's Friday again! This week has been extremely busy for me - and I'm working all weekend long, though it's been a pretty good one!

Thankfully I've had some downtime to find some pretty awesome things to share with you! I'm now enforcing regular mental health breaks between writing jobs ;P

Blown Away Moment:
Just watch the video. How on earth is this girl thirteen?! Incredible.

Cute Puppy and Duckling
Source
Adorableness (that's the only word for it):As if these two aren't so cute! If I had a baby duckling, Chanel would either be a) scared to death of it b) trying to play with it constantly.

Gorgeous Yellow Floral Wedding

Wedding Love:
I love the colour scheme and flowers at this wedding. In fact, there's so much that I love! Now... million dollar wedding budget... where did I put you?

Do you have anything you've seen this week that you want to share?

Friday Favourites: 31 August 2012

Another week gone. Another month gone for that matter! Where does the time go?

I have had a crazy roller coaster week this week, so you'll have to excuse me for the lack of post yesterday. My head is all over the place at the moment, though I'm glad to sit down and shares these posts with you that will hopefully put a smile on your face as well :)

Cute DIY Decoration:
I love this Bride's idea of using paper cranes to show her Japanese heritage and bring luck to the couple on their big day. They look awesome as a backdrop for their ceremony - and her family and friends pitched in to create 1000!

So tell me, how was your week?

Don't worry, I'm doing my best to be back to my normal self in no time! Hopefully I'll have something worth reading this weekend :) Any suggestions to inspire me?

Friday Favourites: 24 August 2012

Friday again! How was your week?

Once again, this week I have some awesome things to share with you! This week marked my first gluten free-versary (aka one year since I went gluten free) and I've been extremely busy with my other life as a freelance writer :P

So lets get on to my favourites this week, shall we?!

Source

Favourite Funny:
This picture is just too funny - I don't know who's more scared, the dog or the mouse :P This picture so can't be real!

Source
Wedding of the Week:
This gorgeous wedding was held in an outdoor garden centre and I love the idea! The natural light, gorgeous plants and organic colour scheme all matched perfectly!

Source
 Luxury Vacation Getaway:
This beautiful Farmhouse Retreat in Provence, France has everything you'd want and more... but with prices per night around $5,240 – $5,242 it will probably have you wanting more money in your bank account! If only!

Source
Squeal worthy pic:
I have no words for this picture. Baby squirrel. Huge eyes. Peeking out of a tree?! Oh how could you not find this adorable?!

Food loving:
This week I have a new Chobani love. Chocolate Chobani! Just take some plain chobani (2% for me please!) and add in either some cocoa and sweetener (I like maple syrup) or some hot chocolate mix - and there you have it, Chocolate Cho!

So tell me - what are you loving this week?

Friday Favourites: 17th August 2012

Hello, loves! It's Friday again! This week in some ways has flown by, though Monday feels like it was years ago!

Lots of exciting things have been happening, especially with my freelance writing business KISS Freelance! I've been working on different freelance projects, nannying, baking and writing for hubpages so I've been busy busy!

But I've still had time some pretty awesome things, so lets get to sharing my favourites!

Source
Favourite Escape:
One of my freelance projects this week is for a Cyprus Tourism site and it's had me dreaming of a Greek escape all week! I've never been to Greece, but now a Cyprus Vacation is on my bucket list, for sure! I need to have my toes in those fine sands soaking up the sunshine!

Source
Must Have Pet:
A while ago, I told you about the Story of Kirk's Dik Dik and when this popped up on Cute Overload, my desire to see a Kirk's Dik Dik only grew a million times! As if that is not the cutest thing?!

Plus just think of all the dirty jokes you could make! Hahaha

Source
Favourite GIF:
This is exactly why I don't run, because I'd look exactly like this duck - though not adorable in the slightest! In high school my PE teaches would laugh at me because I ran "princessy" holding onto my braid to stop it from moving around - I'm just not meant to run, okay?!

Source
Favourite furry friend:
I have a thing for squirrels. It doesn't matter how many times Jesse's family tells me they're a nuisance, I'll still like them! I mean... come on! They're so stinkin cute!

 Food love of the week:
1) This week I've been in a bit of a breakfast rut with this breakfast, but it's so good it's hard not to be! Cereal, cottage cheese, chia seeds and banana all drizzled with peanut butter. When's breakfast?!
2) Yonanas! The only thing better than bananas is frozen bananas turned into soft serve! Heaven.

Source
Favourite idea:
I love Angela's idea for snack sized portable oatmeal in jars! I'm thinking I need to find some bigger jars to make portable oatmeal breakfasts even easier than I already do!

So tell me, how was your week?!

Friday Favourites: 10 August 2012

Hello Friday!
Source

Well, well, well - friday again! Hopefully you've had a fabulous week, this one was my last one as a teenager, eep! I will start next week as a new 20 year old :P

I've been quite busy this week. I've gotten a few new exciting jobs and job prospects with my freelance business and another short-term nannying job! Hopefully there will be some things I can share with you very soon so that you know what I've been up to!

Favourite Funny:
I loved Ellen's interview with Kristen Bell where she talked about her Sloth Obsession and her Sloth Meltdown when her boyfriend surprised her with a visit from a sloth for her birthday. This autotuned version is even funnier!

By the way, family and friends, I don't want a sloth for my birthday! They're a little creepy. Baby animals are fine, however :)

Cute Baby Ape
Source
Picture that made me Squeal:
Now, I said no about the sloth - but I didn't say no to adorable baby apes!! Please, where can I get one?! That's what I need, a baby animal nannying job! Now... where do I find one of those...

Skateboarding Turtle
Source
Awesome Animal:
It must be a tiny animal kind of week, don't you think? I love this picture of the tiny little turtle shredding it up! I told you last week I always wanted a baby turtle and now I think I need one!

Notes from Mom to Baby
Source
Favourite Idea:
I love that Gina is writing letters to her baby girl Livi for the future! For goodness knows how long, I have been telling myself that I will write a journal or letters to my future children (when I have them.. not right now... the only buns in my oven are gluten free ones thankyou!) and I love the idea of writing letters for different events and moments in life - "for the first time we get into a real argument" "for the first day of college" "for your wedding day" "for the first time a boy breaks your heart" etc.

So tell me, how was your week?!
